So, why an apartment??

Well, it's a really cool story... so here goes.

On Sunday afternoon, Dave and I decided to go to some open houses in the Kernersville area. We really like this area, and have already found a house that we intend to purchase once our house sells. However, we thought we'd at least take the time to drive around and see some more houses & learn more about what's out there.

The first 2 houses we saw were not great. The third was just beautiful -- a model home w/ all the upgrades, nice lot and a great asking price. We wondered what the catch was -- and then we found it. On the last page of the disclosure statement, we saw a notice that an extension of Interstate 40 was going to be built to avoid traffic all going through Winston Salem. Part of this extension was to go through Kernersville, and most likely through this particular neighborhood. While homeowners would be given "full market value" for the homes, they would be torn down and the highway construction would continue. Construction was set to begin in the next 3-7 years. Yowza. We walked away thankful that we found this out!

When we got home, we took at look online for more details about the I-40 extension and where it was going through Kernersville. We were shocked to find out that the highway was going to go STRAIGHT through the house that we were planning to buy. It was like a thousand questions were answered regarding our house not selling. If it has sold, we certainly would have put in an offer on that house and in 3-7 years we would have been out of a house. God's timing is perfect. He is so good.

So, given that most of the houses that we were considering were in that exact area, we were left back at square one with no place to live if our house were to sell. We realized that we needed to learn a little more about the area before making a decision about where to buy a home.

We had looked at apartments last week - and only one of them really suited our price range and preferences. This place was called The Meadows. However, the only first floor apartment was available on August 15th and the previous tenant was a heavy smoker. We were just not willing to take this risk, even though they said they could "get the smell out." We also did not like the fact that we were going to be unable to walk through the apartment that we'd put $ down on until it was ready. So, we walked away from this place, and trusted God to lead us once again.

Monday morning, after the shocking revelation about the Kernersville area, I received a phone call from Miss Angie from The Meadows. She said that she had news about something that "never happens". Someone who was supposed to move into a 2 bedroom 1st floor apartment had JUST called and walked out of the lease. The apartment was empty, cleaned and ready to be rented. She asked me if I wanted to go walk through the apartment (which we were told would not to possible) and that they were waiving the regular 1st floor fee (which was very unusual) and that the person who moved out was a single lady who had been there since the apartment was built and was a non smoker, no pet owning lady. I walked through the place and it was spotless and like brand new. We immediately signed paperwork and reserved the apartment for our family! God is so good.

So, we'll be moving this weekend. Can't wait to have our own space and begin life here in NC as a family. Our family support has been SOOO wonderful, but we are ready to have something that's our own. Thanks for your prayers.

Love,
Ang

On the road again...

Yup, we are back on the road again. This time we are headed to a wedding in New Jersey to go to dave's cousin's wedding... and the kids are at home with grammy & popPop! We sooooo need this weekend away to just relax and be together. There are so many decisions that are still up in the air. We need time to pray, talk, plan and make these decisons. We appreciate any prayers you can send our way!

PACKING!!
We got the kitchen packed this morning. Thanks to Tracey Kimball and my mom for all their help, and for Zach, Isaiah, and Michah for carrying down boxes & playing legos with my boys while we packed. It seems weird that almost my entire house is packed into boxes and are stacked into my garage. Lord, send us a buyer for our house! Plus, it looks so nice right now because Tracey weeded my flower beds and they look beautiful! What a blessing having the Kimballs stay at our house has been. Amazing how blessing others somehow always comes back to bless you too. God is good.

The boys had a sleepover last night at aunt meredith (dave's sister) and uncle tanner (her husband)'s house last night. It was johnathan's first time sleeping over and he made it all night! I got a call at 845 am that he missed me & wanted me to come get him. Way to go buddy!
People keep asking how the boys are doing. They are doing great so far. This is like vacation for them so it doesnt seem to bother them yet. all their things are still in pa so the reality of us having "moved" to nc hasnt really hit them (or me!). They miss our dog, Iris, a lot. We will be bringing her down here with us on sunday. She will stay at meredith's house until we move into a house or apartment.
When will we move? We arent sure. Lots of waiting. Praying. Listening. We will need help packing the truck, eventually. Until we know more, thanks for keeping us in your prayers & believing with us that "those who put their hope in the Lord will not be disappointed."

One thing i am learning, the hard way, is that mosquitoes are really bad down here & that i taste really good to them. I have been carrying this bug spray around with me everywhere i go since i got bit 12 times in 10 minutes yesterday. Think vampire scene... That's how my neck looked! Yowza!
Ok, back to Dave's job... Other than being assigned the task of choosing a new phone (oh, the stress!) on his first day (he went with the droid, btw), he will be working on various health actuarial jobs. What does that mean? I have no idea! Email him if u want to know! :) dave@davemoran.net
our house in pa still has not sold. We had 10 showings in 2 weeks but since saturday we havent had a single call. It's easy to get discouraged but we are constantly seeing God's hand at work for our family.
Good friends of ours, the Kimball family, needed a place to stay for awhile. they have been house & dog (yes we left iris in pa! So sad!) sitting & will stay there until we sell.

a beautiful day to play at the park... And while the boys are playing, i thought i would start blogging some of what's going on with me & the family.
where to begin?
dave, the boys, and i packed up the van with as much of our stuff as we could and headed down to stokesdale, nc. This is where dave's parents live & they have graciously agreed to let us live with them until things get settled here in nc. They made us feel very welcome by emptying out closets, dresser drawers & having beds prepared for both boys. We feel so blessed by the support of our family down here. It was a hard decison to leave our loving support of family and friends in pa... But we truly feel God is calling us to this area. The fanstastic welcome by dave's parents was the first of many confirmations of God's loving hand upon us.
Dave has a job in Winston Salem with an actuarial firm called "MBA Actuaries". He is one of 5 guys who works there & is learning a lot already... (to be continued)
